33rd Sunday OT A (Mt 25:14-15)
I.Story: An Eagle’s Egg
- an eagle’s egg happened to be mixed with chicken eggs. When the eggs were incubated, the eaglet emerged from its shell together with the chicks. Thinking it was a chick like the others, the eaglet never tried to fly high but was content to run around like the other chicks. One day a man saw the eaglet and recognized it was an eaglet. He coaxed it fly. The eaglet realized that it was not meant simply to run around but to soar. It then started flying.
- the moral lesson of the story is – we have to see and recognize God’s gift to us and make use of them. Gamitin natin.
II.Parable of the Talents:
- today’s parable, parable of the talents, it speaks of two kinds of people:
1. those who received God’s gift (blessings, graces and talents)and made good use of them productively.
2. those who received God’s gift but did not use or made good use of them productively.
- dito, the third servant was punished not for doing something wrong, but for not making his money productive, ibinaon niya lamang sa lupa. It was not his misdeed but his act omission.
III.My friends, the same thing with us, maaaring wala tayong ginagawang masama sa buhay natin, pero wala rin tayong ginawang mabuti.
Not only for our own profit but for the benefit of others. God’s gift becomes productive in the sight of God, only when we use them to benefit others.
- Let us ask God for the grace to see and recognize His gifts to us. And to use them not only for our own benefit but for the benefit of others.
- The saddest thing in life is wasted talent.
