“Remember, You must die”.

 

 

 

I.Memento Mori – latin words when translated into English it means – “Remember, You must die”.

-          may isang novel, ang title ay “Memento Mori”. It tells about  a group of old people, all over 65 years of age, magkakaibigan sila. One by one they received an anonymous phone call, telling them, “Remember, you must die! – alalahanin mo, kailangan mo ring mamatay”.

-          the novel tells how different individuals react with the telephone message. Bagamat iba-iba ang reactions nila,  a common reaction is fright - takot.

-          Kayo po kung kayo ang makakatanggap  ng telephone call or text message, telling you, na mamatay ka rin. Ano ang magiging reaction mo? Ano ang feeling?

-          Ganunpaman, kahit na nakakatakot at nakakainis, still it causes us to think back over our lives and assess how we have lived. Pinag-iisip tayo, kung papaano tayo namuhay, kung anong kabutihan ang ginawa natin, kung ano ang hindi masyadong mabuti ang ginawa natin.

-          Sa novel, the message they received forces them to come to terms with the meaning of life. Ano ba ang meaning o value ng buhay nila. Does it have any meaning or value?

II.The message “memento mori” – remember, you must die, somehow leads them back into life and discover the real meaning and value of life.

-          mga kapatid, this morning, in the Gospel Jesus is telling us the same words and message. Memento mori – remember, you must die. Kaya ngayon pa lang, habang malakas pa tayo, bata pa, let us assess the meaning and the value of our lives. May meaning ba? May value ba?

-          Also ngayon pa lamang, let us discover for ourselves the real meaning of life. Kung ano ba talaga ang kahulugan ng buhay.

The value of our lives does not depend on who we are, but on what we live for.
